FAQ
General (5)
Intravenous (IV) Nutritional Therapy delivers a powerful dose of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other vital nutrients directly into the bloodstream for quick and safe 100% absorption at high doses, something that would never be possible through oral supplements. This allows us to detoxify, nourish and hydrate your cells from the inside out for dramatic, long-lasting and often instant results. Treatment sessions typically last 30-45 minutes and will leave you feeling refreshed and energized.
Taking oral vitamins can only lead to a 30% absorption rate, which isn’t ideal for individuals who aren’t getting enough vitamins as it is. However, IV therapy allows nutrients to be rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream for maximum benefits.

Are There any Side Effects associated with the treatment
Prior to receiving IV therapy, you will be seen and evaluated by our Nurse practitioner, Aileen Parris. She will go over your medical conditions and see if IV therapy is right for you. There are no major side effects to the treatment. Some people experience a cool feeling in the arm or a mineral taste in the mouth, but this is all normal.
What should I do to prepare prior to my appointment?
It is always wise to drink plenty of water. The more water you drink, the plumper your veins become and the easier it will be to locate your veins to administer and increase hydration and venous volume, leading to the best results. Be sure to bring a good book or headphones with you as you sit and relax and enjoy the treatment.
VITAMINS
VITAMIN C
Vitamin C is needed for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. Itis used to:
- Form an important protein used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels
- Heal wounds and form scar tissue
- Repair and maintain cartilage, bones, and teeth
Vitamin C is one of many antioxidants. Antioxidants are nutrients that block some of the damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are made when your body breaks down food or when you are exposed to tobacco smoke or radiation. The buildup of free radicals over time is largely responsible for the aging process. Free radicals may play a role in cancer, heart disease, and conditions like arthritis. The body is not able to make vitamin C on its own, and it does not store vitamin C.
VITAMIN B6 – PYRIDOXINE
Vitamin B6, also called pyridoxine, is one of 8 B vitamins. Vitamin B6 helps the body make several neurotransmitters, chemicals that carry signals from one nerve cell to another. It is needed for normal brain development and function, and helps the body make the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine, which influence mood, and melatonin, which helps regulate the body clock. Along with vitamins B12 and B9 (folic acid), B6 helps control levels of homocysteine in the blood. Homocysteine is an amino acid that may be associated with heart disease. Your body needs B6 in order to absorb vitamin B12 and to make red blood cells and cells of the immune system.
VITAMIN B5 – DEXAPENTHANOL
Vitamin B5, also called pantothenic acid, is one of the most important vitamins for human life. It's necessary for making blood cells, and it helps you convert the food you eat into energy. Vitamin B5 is one of eight B vitamins. All B vitamins help you convert the protein, carbohydrates, and fats you eat into energy.
VITAMIN B12 – METHYLCOBALAMINE
Vitamin B12 also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the 8 B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the human body. Neither fungi, plants nor animals are capable of producing vitamin B12. Only bacteria and archaea have the enzymes required for its synthesis, although many foods are a natural source of B12 because of bacterial symbiosis. People who are on a vegan diet do not consume as much B12 in their diet and therefore require supplementation.
VITAMIN B7 - Biotin
Vitamin B7 plays a crucial role in carb, fat and protein metabolism. Biotin is important for keeping your skin, hair & nails healthy and nourished.
B COMPLEX
B-complex 100 is a combination of B vitamins. 100 mg of NIACIN (B3), THIAMINE (B1) and 2mg of DEXAPENTHANOL (B5), RIBOFLAVIN (B2), PYRIDOXINE (B6). All B vitamins help the body convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is used to produce energy. These B vitamins, often referred to as B complex vitamins, also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B complex vitamins are needed for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. They also help the nervous system function properly. All B vitamins are water-soluble, meaning that the body does not store them.
MINERALS
CALCIUM
Calcium is a mineral found in many foods. The body needs calcium to maintain strong bones and to carry out many important functions. Almost all calcium is stored in bones and teeth, where it supports their structure and hardness. The body also needs calcium for muscles to move and for nerves to carry messages between the brain and every body part. In addition, calcium is used to help blood vessels move blood throughout the body and to help release hormones.
MAGNESIUM
Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health. Approximately 50% of total body magnesium is found in bone. The other half is found predominantly inside cells of body tissues and organs. Only 1% of magnesium is found in blood, but the body works very hard to keep blood levels of magnesium constant. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis. There is an increased interest in the role of magnesium in preventing and managing disorders such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and migraine. Dietary magnesium is absorbed in the small intestines. Magnesium is excreted through the kidneys.
ZINC
Zinc, a nutrient found throughout your body, helps your immune system and metabolism function. Zinc is also important to wound healing and your sense of taste and smell. With a varied diet, your body usually gets enough zinc. Food sources of zinc include chicken, red meat and fortified breakfast cereals.
SELENIUM
Selenium is an essential trace mineral. This means your body must get this mineral in the food you eat. Small amounts of selenium are good for your health. Selenium helps the body with making antioxidants that are essential for your general health. It helps your body protect you after a vaccination Some medical studies suggest that selenium may help with the following conditions: certain cancers, prevent cardiovascular disease and help protect the body from the poisonous effects of heavy metals and other harmful substances.
AMINO ACIDS
GLUTATHIONE
It is the most important molecule you need to stay healthy and prevent aging, cancer, heart disease, dementia and more, and necessary to treat everything from autism to Alzheimer’s disease. It is often referred to as “the mother of all antioxidants”. The good news is that your body produces its own glutathione. The bad news is that toxins from poor diet, pollution, medications, stress, trauma, aging, infections and radiation all deplete your glutathione. By receiving a dose of IV glutathione you will be able to get 100% absorption of this important antioxidant.
L-ARGININE
It is obtained from the diet and is necessary for the body to make proteins. L-arginine is found in red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products. L-arginine is converted in the body into a chemical called nitric oxide. Nitric oxide causes blood vessels to dilate for improved blood flow. L-arginine also stimulates the release of growth hormone, insulin, and other substances in the body.
L-CARNITINE
L-Carnitine is an amino acid that plays an important role in the body’s production of energy and is naturally found in the human body. It aids in maintaining healthy heart and brain function, treating kidney disease, treating male infertility, acts as an antioxidant and can be used as a weight loss supplement. Good food sources include red meat, dairy, nuts, seeds, legumes, fruits and vegetables.
MIC with B12
MIC A Methionine Inositol Choline (MIC) injection consists of a formula of lipotropics, compounds that help break down fat. The primary compounds in the formula–methionine, inositol, choline–work to metabolize fat cells and assist in the elimination of stored fat deposits in the liver and body. Our MIC formulation includes B12 to increase energy, and the effects are often immediate.
Shockwave Therapy provides physiotherapy benefits for patients by triggering and accelerating the body’s own healing process, stimulating the metabolism, and improving blood circulation which all results in the regeneration of damaged tissues.
Shockwave therapy stimulates tissue repair in musculoskeletal injuries in several ways:
- Stimulating cells to release chemicals that reduce inflammation
- Stimulating cells to release chemicals that induce tissue repair
- Mechanical breakup of scar tissue or calcification in injured tendons
Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy works by using high-frequency acoustic waves to open exiting blood vessels in the penis, stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, and eliminate micro-plaque. The result is increased blood flow in the penis resulting in stronger, harder, and more sustainable erections.
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive revolutionary technology that aids with sexual wellness by treating the core problem rather than the symptoms.
What is Platelet Rich plasma (PRP)?
Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a technique where blood is drawn from a patient and placed into a centrifuge. By centrifuging the sample, it separates the platelets from other blood cells. Platelets contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which are very important in the healing process of injuries. PRP contains many more platelets than what is typically found in blood. The concentration of platelets and growth factors can be 5 to 10 times greater than usual. When injecting PRP back into our body it helps with stimulating collagen and elastin production.
PRP can be used for various reasons.
- At ivMDspa by Vitality Health & Aesthetics, we use PRP for the treatment of:
- PRP injections for Musculoskeletal injuries
- Improving skin tone, texture & elasticity
- Stimulating inactive hair follicles to promote new hair growth for the long-term
- PRP injection for sexual wellness
